good life
What is a moment?

October 26th, 2009

I have amazingly interesting friends, who, collectively and individually – are smart, thoughtful, creative and embrace the world. They share themselves in uniquely personal styles and forms. My closest and most beloved friend has helped me learn how I look at myself.  And she holds my hand along this most difficult of experiences. Why she does this, I do not know. She is part of the best days of my life.

These people make the best moments of my life so indescribably wonderful I almost, sometimes, often feel unworthy of their love and attention.

I have a different friend, Gayle – who lives in the same area of the California desert I did as a child, and who has no good reason to be my friend. She often shares her thoughts about life with me; passing along interesting things for me to read and watch and think about. This video is one. ~blm

Peter and 11 pound 70+ year-old lobster awaits his fate.

"Peter" the 11 pound 70+ year-old lobster awaits his fate.

This 70+ year-old 11 pound lobster was priced at $275 on the menu of Oceana, an upscale restaurant located at Rockefeller Center in NYC. When the press publicized the offering, the restaurant was inundated with calls from patrons and the public demanding they spare the life of the crustacean.Said one patron:

“It doesn’t bother me,” the Greenwich Village lawyer said of the possibility a senior-citizen lobster could wind up on a plate. “What does it matter if it’s 1, 3 or 70 years old? If you’re going to eat it, you’re going to eat it.”
